"If you so choose, even the unexpected can bring new and positive possibilities.
If you so choose, you can find value and fulfillment in every circumstance." - Ralph Marston
These words of Ralph Marston speak so strongly to me. I often find myself expecting, preparing and worrying about what's going to happen next and am usually apprehensive when life takes me on a detour. However, most of the time those detours turn out to be pleasant surprises that I find so much value and fulfillment in. Detours that I long to be able to claim as my own, I owe many to my dear family and friends. As Edmund Lee said, "Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see the greatness within you, even when you don't see it yourself."
And I have this day to thank to one of those friends. A whole afternoon spent taking in, contemplating, connecting with, documenting and appreciating the beautiful nature around me. To be able to disconnect from the rest of the world for just a few hours was so refreshing and the unexpectedness of it occurring in the middle of winter, only days before snow and ice fell, was just simply magical.
Embrace the unexpected and you never know what beauty you may find around the corner!
